Meet the Girls Behind HGBC

Hi! We’re Steph and Danica, the girls behind Hot Girl Book Club!

We started this book club in July 2025 without any intention of it becoming what it is today.

Our first read was The Midnight Library by Matt Haig and we had our first ever discussion at Steph’s home with three of our other girl friends. We shared it on our Instagram pages and received a few inquiries about how to join. So naturally, we thought that making a dedicated Instagram page would help bring other girls in and give us a group chat on the app.

But little did we know that the club would grow so quickly!

We outgrew our 250-member group chat on our one-year anniversary, and moved to the BFF app, where we now have over 1,400 members.

We are more than just a book club! While we do share our love for books, we also share our love for wine, Pilates, and running (and more!). We like to share this love with our members by hosting wine nights, Pilates classes, and group runs.

  • Hot Girl Book Club was founded in July 2025 by Danica & Steph. We are a San Francisco–based book club for women who not only love to read, but also love dinner parties, Pilates, wine, good conversation & making new friends!

    We read a different book each month and get together for discussions, socials, special events, and lots of free movie screenings!

  • Anyone who identifies with the community and wants to read, meet people, and hang out! No need to know anyone beforehand. Come solo—we’re very friendly to newcomers. 💕

  • No pressure! We’d love for you to read as much as you can, but life happens. You’re welcome to come even if you didn’t finish—just be mindful of spoilers when discussing.

  • We typically have one main book discussion each month, at the end of the month, with additional events and social gatherings throughout the year.

  • All over San Francisco! We love finding cute restaurants, cafés, wine bars, bookstores, parks, and other fun spots that fit the vibe of the book.

  • Some venues require deposits or minimums, so we occasionally charge a small reservation fee to help cover costs, plan accurately, and reduce last-minute no-shows.

    When a venue or brand sponsors an event and covers the costs, we’re able to make it free for our community!

    Any fees and event-specific details will always be listed on the RSVP page.

  • We vote each month between top books, based on that month’s theme, and suggestions we receive from the girls. Send us your suggestions here!

  • A little bit of everything! Contemporary fiction, classics, romance, thrillers, historical fiction, fantasy, memoirs, literary fiction, and more.

  • Yes! We love member recommendations. Send us your suggestion here and it may make it onto a future ballot. 📖

  • Come anyway! You don’t need an invitation, an existing friend in the club, or prior book-club experience. Showing up alone is very normal — we get tons of newcomers every month!
